Wild birds such as White-backed woodpecker and Bullfinches are cheerful, and Witch hazel has also begun to bloom.
It was bitterly cold in the early morning on January 11th, with hoarfrost forming along Daitore trail, but the temperature gradually rose and by the afternoon the sun was shining like spring.
A white-backed woodpecker(Oakagera) desperately searches for insects in Shiki-no-tani path. I've been seeing it more often recently. As usual, they make trees with full of holes.

In the nearby treetops, Bullfinches (Uso) are eating on the winter buds of trees and the seeds of climbing hydrangeas. The male has a reddish belly, so it might be a Red-bullfinch.

(Photo 5) They also like eating the seeds of climbing hydrangea.

(Photo 6) Today, several Jays were flying around, chirping loudly. It's the season they are looking for a partner, right?
When I returned to the area near the museum, I saw a Yellow-throated Bunting (Miyama-Hojiro) eating some of the spilled seeds, with a flock of Rustic Bunting (Kashiradaka).

Witch Hazel (Mansaku) group flowers begin to bloom as early as mid-January. In front of the museum, the Red Witch Hazel is starting to bloom, and at the Shiki-no-tani path, common (Witch Hazel and Yellow Witch Hazel are starting to bloom.

Now we can finally enjoy not only wild birds but also flowers. In February, Fukujusou (Adonis ramosa) begins to bloom.
Chihaya Park is getting more and more fun.
