Attractive! Autumn birds!
The temperature has dropped completely at Chihaya-enchi Park.
The benches are dressed up in autumn colors. (Photo 1)
Autumn is the season when wild birds look attractive!
Mr. KI, who always provides photos for Chihaya Museum, took these wonderful photos as follows.
A green woodpecker (Aogera) eating Aralia elata berries by the observation deck at Shiki-no-Tani path.
He's eating it enthusiastic! (Photo 2-3)
It's rare to see a bird's face from the front. (Photo 4)
He is posing. (Photo 5)
A white-eye (Mejiro) has also arrived! (Photo 6)
(All2-6 photos taken by KI)
Actually, I was in the same place that morning...
I've just photographed a tree-climbing copper pheasant (Yamadori), which has become a trend these days! (Photo 7)
Eating time♪ (Photo 8)
Stretching his neck! (Photo 9)
Oh yeah, a brambling (Atori) has also arrived.
(Photo 10: by KI)
He also saw a Muscicapa sibirica (Samebitaki) ! Such cute eyes~ (Photo 11: by KI)
Everyone was taking pictures of other birds,
so this varied tit (Yamagara) was perched on the handle of the camera tripod, sulking. (Photo 12)

Kongo Foothills Stargazing's deadline is approaching.
The Tsuchinshan-ATLAS Comet has been much talked about in the news.
After photographing it at the Chihaya-enchi Observatory the other day, the brightness has decreased considerably during these cloudy days, making it difficult to find with the naked eye.
However, when photographed on October 21st with the smart telescope Seestar,
the long tail is still clearly visible. (Photo 1)
So, do you think that the world of celestial bodies, which is all over the news, is a little intimidating?
At Chihaya Museum of Nature and Stars, we hope that as many people as possible can enjoy celestial bodies more casually.
This weekend's "Kongo Foothills Stargazing" is with that same feeling in mind...
(Poster: The information of the star watching)
Date: October 26 (Sat.) 19:30 - 21:00
Venue: The parking lot at Mt.Kongo trailhead.
There are a lot of applications for this event.
We have increased the number of staff and the capacity of the reception desk in order to make it enjoyable for as many people as possible, but the deadline for this event will soon be reached.
Reservations are required to participate, so please book your seat early.

Event Report
Autumn is the season to go out! Chihaya Park is also full of smiles.
Two fun events were held on October 13th.
Here is a report on those events.
First of all...
Let's try using a pizza oven at Kongo Mountain Campground!
Mt. Kongo Campground in Chihaya-enchi has a full-scale pizza oven.
But it would be quite difficult to rent an oven and cook with a small group of people...
So this time, the campground staff heated the pizza oven to the right temperature and let the guests try baking pizza. (Photos 1-2)
The venue was packed with people! It was a wonderful event full of smiles.
Everyone's smiles were just too beautiful...
Here is a video looking back on the event.
We staff members were also very grateful that everyone had a good time.
Thank you to all the customers who participated!
Now, as the sun went down...
A course to master the smart telescope Seestar was held at the parking lot of Mt, Kongo Trail at the foot of the mountain.
The lecturer was Masayuki Murakami of KYOEI Tokyo, a leading expert on Seestar. He came all the way from Tokyo!
Seestar's amazing performance: just put it and use it!
Many people participated, including those who wanted to learn about their own one's functions that they hadn't mastered yet, and those who don't have one yet but want to see the actual device.
First, the lecturer, Mr. Murakami's talk about the appeal of Seestar. (Photo 3)
It's finally time to put it into practice! (Photo 4)
A beautiful moon appeared on the tablet. (Photo 5)
There was also a segment where you could try out the actual device. (Photo 6)
It's so easy to use and excellent that some people say, "I don't need a heavy telescope anymore."
No, that's not true at all.
It was a course where you could experience the wonderfulness of a heavy telescope and the rapid progress of astronomical equipment.
Thank you to all the customers who participated and to the lecturer, Mr. Murakami.
We want to make astronomy a little closer to you and let you experience the fun of astronomy. With that in mind, Chiha-boshi Museum is planning various events.

10/16 Mammi-chajinai, Yamadori
I haven't taken a photo of Eyebrowed thrush (Mammi-chajinai) yet this year, so I waited in front of the holly tree. But it didn't show up.
After a while, I saw a bird perched near the bushes. It looked like a blue-and-white flycatcher (Ohruri).
○Young male blue-and-white flycatcher (Photo 1)
It took a bite and disappeared.
The next bird to land was a plain female blue-and-white flycatcher.
○Female blue-and-white flycatcher (Photo 2)
It only stopped for a moment and then passed by.
I got tired of waiting, and then I saw something yellow in the shade of the leaves.
○Male narcissus flycatcher (Kibitaki, Photo 3)
It was a male narcissus flycatcher, but it was hidden behind the leaves for a moment and flew away.
This is just a photo as evidence.
After I went back to the museum for a bit, and when I came back, someone said "Oh, Mammi-cha was here just now...." It's a common disappointed story, but I pulled myself together and waited for a while.
The next bird to appear was a winter bird, a brambling (Atori).
○Brambling (Photo 4-6)
They said that it had been here also in the morning, but it means one of winter birds has arrived. It seems that the seeds of the Japanese knotweed are its favorite now.
○ Video of a brambling, October 14, 2024
As TK and I continued to watch, we saw an eyebrowed thrush (Mammi-chajinai)! It gradually emerged from behind the branch and were busy eating Aralia elata (Tara) berries.
○ An eyebrowed thrush (Photo 7-9)
○ Video: a Mammi-chajinai eating Aralia elata berries.
While I was engrossed in watching the bird, a large reddish figure passed in front of me. ...It's a copper pheasant!!! A copper pheasant (Yamadori) perched on the tree where KI took a photo the other day. It came right in front of me.
○ Copper pheasant (Photo 10-11)
And it started eating the berries. I usually see it eating things that have fallen to the ground, but..... Today it seemed to be saying, "I want to eat some tara berries too...."
○ Video of a copper pheasant on the branch
It seems that it climbs up trees to sleep at night, but perhaps to avoid animals? It doesn't seem to be very good at thin branches.
Summer birds, migratory birds, winter birds, resident birds - it was an unexpected harvest with all seasons.

Who is this?
Mr. KI, who always provides us with wonderful photos, took a photo of a large wild bird in a tree♪
So, who is this? ? (Photo 1)
What? What the...? ?
A Copper pheasant?
It's a Copper pheasant!! (Photo 2)
I've never seen a pheasant climb a tree before!!!
I wonder if the weight of the bird will break the branch...
It seems that the white-eye (Mejiro) was also surprised by this information. (Photo 3)
The varied tit (Yamagara) also seemed surprised, saying, "What? That's stupid! Copper pheasants are staying on the ground, right?" (Photo 4)
But, when I looked it up, I found out that copper pheasants sleep in trees. Wow...I didn't know that...
Mr. KI, thank you for always providing us with lively information about bird life!
I learned a lot♪
